Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is a water management strategy that completely eliminates liquid effluent discharge. Using technologies such as vacuum evaporation and distillation, wastewater is recovered for reuse in the production process, leaving only a solid or concentrated residue of minimal volume.
Vacuum evaporation lowers the pressure so water boils at a low temperature, separating clean water from contaminants with very efficient energy consumption. The vapour is condensed into a high-quality distillate suitable for reuse, while the contaminants remain concentrated in a much smaller residue.
With VACUDEST equipment it is possible to recycle up to 98% of wastewater and reduce waste management costs by up to 99%, turning a problematic effluent into a high-value resource.
